The Future of Food – Fruit Flies and Petri Dish Pigs – Only In Israel

One of the most fascinating, promising and important sectors of technology is food-tech. Humanity, after all, is on a food collision course with our food. demand is expected to increase anywhere between 59% to 98% by 2050 and our production is not keeping pace.  If we continue along this current trajectory, the simple math and sad truth is that people will suffer and die!

Thank goodness, however, for precision agriculture and food technologies, both of which are allowing us to do more with less. Strap on your seatbelts folks for world transforming and life sustaining technologies headed your way.

For example, consider Israel’s first Food-tech incubator, The Kitchen (which we are featuring in the welaunch Ag-tech / Food-tech tour this spring). Here are some of their mind blowing companies:

Meat The Future – leading the Cellular Agriculture revolution, starting with clean, healthy and ethical bovine cultured meat. They literally grow meat! No cow. No killing. Not “like meat” but actually meat!

Flying SpArk, a food technology startup company, is taking on the enormous challenge of finding alternative protein sources for human consumption. The company is developing a superior protein out of fruit fly larvae! Sounds gross, and maybe it is, but imagine the implications of having an unlimited protein supply to feed a hungry world.

The list goes on.

The point is clear.

The future of food is here and, once again, Israel continues to strive to fix a broken world.
